The Savoy Homann is the grand daddy of Hotels in Bandung.
It is built in the Art Deco style and was recently renovated to drag it into the 21st Century.
The Hotel is on historic Jalan Asia Afrika and close to the Braga area.
The precise date of completion is unknown. Based on some Dutch colonial documents,
the Savoy Homann must have been built before 1888 and owned by Mr. A. Homann, a German Immigrant.

It was renamed the Savoy Homann, managed by Mr. F.J.A. Van Es.
The Japanese occupied the Savoy during the war and it served briefly as the office
of the International Red Cross before reverting to being a Hotel.
Renovations in 2006 were sensitive to its colonial heritage.
There is heavy use of restored marble and beautiful Art Deco tiling and touches.
The rooms are spacious and have balconies that look down to
a central courtyard that houses the main dining area.

The swimming pool at the rear of the Hotel was disappointing and could use some
aesthetic renovation to match the rest of the Hotel. The Bar hosts local bands and
is a popular meeting place for older, wealthier Bandungnians.
